This one-night-only live concert of the 28th Annual Women
Cantors’ Network (WCN) Conference – meeting in Chicago for the
first time – will feature the voices of more than 100 famed women
cantors, cantorial soloists, choir directors, teachers, song
leaders, instrumentalists and ritual directors from major cities
and towns throughout the U.S., Canada, Israel, the U.K., France
and Germany—in addition to the stirring sounds of Chicago’s
Beth Shalom B’nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation
choir and a special solo performance by Anshe Emet’s world
renowned Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi.

All proceeds will benefit SHALVA, an organization that fights domestic
abuse in Chicago area Jewish homes.

The concert will be broadcast at a later date on 98.7/WFMT.

This is the 28th Annual Women Cantors’ Network Conference—the first
in Chicago and at Anshe Emet Synagogue. It is hosted by Debby Lewis,
Ritual Director at Anshe Emet Synagogue, and Leslie Newcorn, former
Cantorial Soloist of Congregation Kol Ami. The annual conference is an
opportunity for spiritual renewal; learning with nationally recognized
cantors, musicians, composers, rabbis, authors and educators; communal
davening (prayers); sharing solo and choral music repertoires; formal and
informal discussions about yearly successes and challenges; and putting
on a concert for the community with a local beneficiary.
